প্রশ্নে প্রদত্ত I promise I – smoke again. অর্থাৎ আমি প্রতিজ্ঞা করছি যে আমি পুনরায় ধূমপান - ‘প্রদত্ত option গুলোর মধ্যে option (ক) তে উল্লেখিত won’t অর্থাৎ will not ভবিষ্যৎকাল নির্দেশ করে। শূন্যস্থান এই শব্দটি প্রয়োগ করলে বাক্যটি হবে I promise I won’t smoke again. অর্থাৎ ‘প্রতিজ্ঞা করছি যে আমি আর ধূমপান করব না।‘ অন্যদিকে option (খ) তে প্রদত্ত don’t কে প্রয়োগ করলে বাক্য অনর্থ হয়ে যায়। (গ) তে প্রদত্ত couldn’t কখনও হবে না কারণ বাক্যটি Present tense এর। (ঘ) তে প্রদত্ত didn’t একই কারণে হবে না। আমরা জানি যে Present tense কেবল মাত্র Future tense - এর সাথেই তার সম্পর্ক সৃষ্টি করতে পারে। সুতরাং সবদিক বিবেচনায় সঠিক উত্তর (ক)।

প্রশ্নে দেয়া আছে যে ‘He did not give me - অর্থাৎ ‘সে আমাকে - - - - - দেয়নি’। প্রদত্ত option গুলোর মধ্যে option (ক) তে প্রদত্ত much advice শূন্যস্থানে প্রয়োগ করলে বাক্যটি হবে He did not give me much advice. অর্থাৎ ‘সে আমাকে বেশি উপদেশ দেয়নি।‘ Advice শব্দটি Abstract noun হওয়ায় এর plural হয় না এবং এর পূর্বে much বসাটাই স্বাভাবিক। অন্যদিকে option (খ) ভুল কারণ এখানে advices ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে। আবার option (গ) ভুল কারণ Abstract noun এর পূর্বে many বসে না এবং option (ঘ) ভুল কারণ advices অর্থাৎ plural করা হয়েছে এবং তার পূর্বে many ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে। অথচ Abstract noun এর পূর্বে much হয় এবং Abstract noun এর plural হয় না। সুতরাং সঠিক উত্তর (ক)।
